Reusing glass

I have a couple of glass bottles I have saved up and I have been looking for cool things to do with them. I decided to experiment and I came out with this!

I found instructions online on how to cut a glass bottle. All you need is:
the bottle you want to cut,
a candle,
sand paper (I forgot to include it in the picture below),
something to score the glass (I happen to have a glass scorer/breaker),
and running water!

The steps:
1. Take the paper off of the bottle and decide where you want to cut it.
2. Make your cut! Score the glass all the way around the bottle. I found it very hard to cut a straight line which is why the glass was cut so uneven (but I kind of like it.)
3. Light the candle and heat the score on your glass. I'm not sure the right way to do this, but I ran it a few times over the tip of the flame, trying to avoid turning the glass black.
4. Run the heated cut under running water and you have two pieces of glass!
5. Sand the edge of the glass with the sand paper.

In haste, I blew the candle out and made a mess (or, ART) on my table. I will probably not remove it for a while..

In other news, I am growing sunflowers! Don't worry, I will replant them in a bigger pot when needed.
And, we have a tent in our living room! We take turns sleeping in it :)

ANDDDD!!! My roommate is going to get married!!!!!!!! Heeeeeeeeee!
Engaged on 5/11/08.

Home can be fun.

This past weekend I went home. I didn't do very much, but there are a few things I wish to record here.

1. Nieces and nephews: here is 1 of the 6 modeling my keens.

2. Haircut: I finally did it! My brother cut it, and when he got this far, I had to take a picture. Don't
worry, we cut the top even.

3. I took my parents to a Korean restaurant in Koreatown. I think they liked it by the end of the meal.

Mom drinking Shikhae (rice punch they give you at the end of the meal)

Dad holding chopsticks. He was pretty good at it.

4. PINKBERRY!!!!!: I know people say it is overrated, and its probably because of people like me, but I can't get enough of this stuff. It's SO good. So good, I decided to make this here advertisement using my half eaten cup of goodness. I got it on 3 out of the 4 days I was home. Oh how I wish there was pinkberry here (its only in LA and New York for now.)

Thanksgiving.

My Thanksgiving was practically 2 weeks long. At school we had Thanksgiving lunch on the Friday before Thankgiving. So we prepared our PAPER MACHE turkey for our table's center piece. How did it turn out? How any turkey made by a bunch of 6 year olds and some adults who are just as adventurous as they are: GREAT.

And Tuesday, I had a wonderful dinner with the fabulous people of ebcb class of 2007. Of course, we had three grills going in my living room feeding 20 people beef, pork, and other things to go with it.

And to end my Thanksgiving and start off the Christmas season, Heidi and I went to Union Square to see the lighting of the Macy's Christmas Tree.
